Maxim Edwards is a freelance journalist specialising in central and eastern Europe, with a particular interest in nationalism, minorities, migration, and the politics of memory. He was previously assistant editor at OCCRP (2018) and commissioning editor at oDR (2015-2018), openDemocracy’s section on the post-Soviet states. Max completed a degree in Russian, Central and Eastern European studies at universities in Glasgow and Budapest. His work has appeared in The Atlantic, The Guardian, The Christian Science Monitor, EurasiaNet, The Forward, and Roads & Kingdoms among other publications.
